Just simply hearing those words drip off her tongue to leak into his ears made him want to greet the floor on one knee, and spill what his mind was screaming. It was almost impossible to maintain a much calmer composure, but he managed. For the time being. Lostelle knew that he wouldn’t be able to wait until he took her out, but then a thought occurred… Why would it matter if he did it here or in public? Emlyn would forever be his, assuming chances went well, no matter where he did it.
So with that thought in mind, a gentle and loving kiss was placed upon the lips he adored before the hand that held her chin traveled to her own hand, and he knelled to one knee. That odd feeling of butterflies consumed not only his stomach, but his mind and lifted away all his thoughts. Lostelle, of all people, was found on one knee in front of the woman he loved, with a beautiful ring in his pocket. He was silent for a moment, unable to form any words as he looked up to her adoringly and lovingly, holding her hand in silence as the other once again fiddled with the velvet box in his pocket.
It felt nice saying that, actually meaning it, and knowing that, no matter what, the person she was saying to meant it too when he returned it. She bit her lip at the thought. It was just sweet enough to soothe her to sleep at night, and it usually what did after a long day of no contact to anyone. Anyone more than not being the same one that was standing before her with the most determined look.
The kiss wasn’t exactly a shock anymore, she was used to it for today. Kisses were normal today. But where his hand moved and then the rest of his body, down to one knee, that was enough to get a small, inaudible gasp, closely followed by a smile. Emlyn knew exactly what was happening but she didn’t think that he’d ever ask. Her unoccupied hand gripped and ungripped at the end of her shirt as she stared right back at him, surprise and happiness being the only two things she could feel at the moment.
